talkSPORT betting tips – Best F1 bets and expert advice for the Italian Grand Prix

After a potentially title-defining victory for Oscar Piastri at Zandvoort, the F1 circus next heads to Monza for Sunday’s highly anticipated Italian Grand Prix.

A retirement for McLaren’s Lando Norris at the Dutch Grand Prix has seen the Brit fall 34 points behind team-mate Piastri in the Drivers’ Championship with nine meetings of the season remaining.

After the disappointment of Zandvoort, Norris has stated all he can do is “go for it” as he looks to get his race for the world championship back on track at Monza.

Lando Norris to win @ 7/4

Looking the stronger of the two McLarens throughout practice at the Dutch Grand Prix, Norris only just missed out on claiming pole position in qualifying by 0.012 seconds to Piastri.

Even if he had finished fastest in qualifying, it’s likely the oil leak that saw Norris retire from the Dutch GP with just seven laps to go, would have still seen his race cut short at Zandvoort.

The good news for Norris is that there is no fallow weekend and a fresh race is just around the corner at Monza.

Norris has earned two podium finishes previously at the Italian Grand Prix, coming in second place in 2021 and third last season.

Barring any other reliability issues for Norris, the Bristolian is good value to respond to the disappointment of Zandvoort and claim his maiden race win at an Italian Grand Prix this weekend.

George Russell podium finish @ 5/4

Just missing out on a top-three finish at the Dutch Grand Prix last weekend, Mercedes ace George Russell can make amends on Sunday at Monza.

Russell has made the podium six times already this season, with his last top-three finish coming last month at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The Brit will have been disappointed he could not finish ahead of the young Frenchman Isak Hadjar at Zandvoort last time out and the Silver Arrows star can respond at Monza this week.

Russell earned a podium finish at the 2022 Italian Grand Prix and, based on this consistent form over the last couple of races, he can secure a seventh top-three finish in Lombardy on Sunday.

Fernando Alonso top-ten finish @ SP

Showing serious speed during practice ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso will be hoping he can emulate that speed at Monza this week.

Separating the two McLarens as the second fastest driver in second practice at Zandvoort, two-time world champion Alonso was mixing it with the quickest on the grid.

Eventually finishing 10th in qualifying before coming in eighth place at the end of the Dutch Grand Prix, it was a positive week for Alonso who will now have his eyes set on more points in Italy this weekend.

The only Spanish two-time winner of the Italian Grand Prix, after taking the chequered flag in 2007 and 2010, Alonso can add to his fond memories of Monza with a top-ten finish on Sunday.
