‘We got it done’ – Dana White confirms UFC White House card as fans tease Jon Jones and Conor McGregor returns

Dana White has made a UFC White House event official, and fans couldn't be more excited.
A monumental UFC card at the White House first emerged when US President Donald Trump expressed his desire to host White's promotion during America's 250th anniversary.
The US President stated during a rally in Iowa last month that he planned on having a UFC fight on the grounds of the White House in front of 20,000 to 25,000 people.
UFC CEO White, who is a close ally of Trump's, had made his feelings clear on the card, saying it would 'definitely' happen while detailing several obstacles involved with putting on such a historic event.
However, with fans getting more and more excited over what a White House card could involve, nothing was made official until this week.
White took to social media on Thursday to explain that he had just left a meeting at the White House in Washington, DC, before making a huge announcement.
"I had a great day," White explained via Instagram.
"[I'm] just about to take off from Washington, DC we had the meeting at the White House.
"[The meeting] could not have gone better. It's going to be awesome.
"The White House fight is on, the White House fight is on. I will have more details on that in the next couple of weeks, but we got it done today."
UFC White House is expected to take place on July 4, 2026, to celebrate 250 years of American Independence.
That date has not been confirmed yet, although it is likely White will make it official in the next few weeks.
His announcement comes just weeks after landing a major $7.7 billion broadcast deal with Paramount, which will no doubt be delighted to hear the news that a UFC White House card is official.
Members of the MMA fraternity haven't stopped discussing who could feature on the historic card, with Jon Jones and Conor McGregor both anticipated to make their fighting returns at the event.
One responded to White's UFC White House announcement and said: "I guess McGregor is making his return."
While another added: "Jon Jones about to start typing."
A third wrote: "Holy s***. Let’s go. What a time to be alive..."
Both Jones and McGregor have been consistent with the fact that they would like to make a UFC return at the White House.
White announced Jones had retired from MMA in June, seven months after the latter's last UFC fight - a heavyweight title win over Stipe Miocic in New York.
'Bones' had been urged to defend the heavyweight title against Briton Tom Aspinall, who is now the undisputed champion and makes his first defence at UFC 321 in October, but opted against that fight and decided to retire.
However, when Trump's plans for a White House card came to fruition, Jones reversed his retirement and quickly re-entered the UFC's drug testing pool to get a fight on the card.
But White has made it clear that he has no interest in putting Jones on the card, giving the scenario a 'billion-to-one odds.'
He has seemingly lost trust in his former pound-for-pound great after the Aspinall saga and doesn't want to risk relying on his presence for such an important card.
One man who could definitely feature at the top of the UFC White House bill is McGregor.
McGregor hasn't fought since snapping his leg in a trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier in 2021.
The Irishman was meant to make a comeback in June 2024 to fight Michael Chandler, but their main event was cancelled when he injured his toe.
McGregor has since made his intentions of making a UFC return clear by giving his first drug test sample, and, like Jones, going back into the organisation's anti-doping programme.
'The Notorious' has teased his UFC comeback multiple times online since Trump revealed his plans for a White House card.
"The only place where disputes truly get settled. The White House," the 37-year-old wrote via X last month, alongside an AI-generated image of him facing off with Chandler, who has been mentioned as a suitable opponent for his return.
