Shannon Sharpe slams CeeDee Lamb’s shocking Eagles performance as Cowboys star addresses ‘terrible’ game

CeeDee Lamb is blaming himself for the Dallas Cowboys' season-opening 24-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday.

Lamb had three drops, two of which came in a crucial fourth quarter that effectively denied the Cowboys an upset set win inside Lincoln Financial Field.

The NFL's season opener started with controversy when Eagles All-Pro defensive tackle Jalen Carter spat on Cowboys QB Dak Prescott before the opening snap and was immediately ejected.

Despite the Super Bowl champions losing arguably their best defender, the Cowboys still couldn't claim a victory and Lamb is arguably the biggest reason.

Lamb, who had seven drops last season and is one of the highest paid non-QBs in the NFL, said before the season he wanted to complete 2025 without a single drop.

Unfortunately that won't be the case.

“That’s terrible,” Lamb said when talking about his performance.

“Honestly, I can’t point the finger at anybody else. I take full accountability and everything else that comes with it.

"Because as a player, I train for moments like that and the ball to come my way.

"For me to not come up with it, it stings. But if you think I’m not coming back harder than this, you’ve got another thing coming.”

Lamb's first drop came in the second quarter when he denied the Cowboys from scoring a touchdown on three straight possessions.

Instead, the possession ended with a Brandon Aubrey field goal.

Lamb added that it's going to be painful watching film on his performance.

“I’m definitely gonna look at this film and dread every drop, that’s for sure,” Lamb said. “I need to catch the damn ball.”

Shannon Sharpe slams CeeDee Lamb

NFL legend and Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe joined in with the criticisms of Lamb, specifically slamming him for his decision to dive on a play when the Cowboys trailed by four with two minutes to go.

"CeeDee had big big drops," Sharpe began on his Nightcap podcast.

"He's the number one, he's the wide receiver number one, not in that game."

"I don't know why he is diving like he's in a pool... Dak can't throw it any better."

"I don't think CeeDee needed to dive for that ball."

Sharpe's co-host, Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson, said that Lamb's plays ultimately decided the game.

What would force the Dallas Cowboys to move on from Dak Prescott?

"The Cowboys should have sealed the deal, it's moments like this that determine wins and losses," he said.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott cut a composed figure in his post-game media duties, claiming he's confident that Lamb will return to making the same plays he missed today.

"It's Game 1, and he's a guy that makes those plays. He's going to make those plays," Prescott said.

I'm not going to get down on him. I'm not going to lose confidence by any means. And he will make those plays."
