Chiefs and Tyreek Hill need each other more than ever and it’s perfect time for blockbuster trade

Mike McDaniel is a couple more embarrassments away from being fired in Miami.

The Kansas City Chiefs began Patrick Mahomes’ 2025 revenge tour by getting outcoached and outplayed by the Los Angeles Chargers.

Why have Kansas City Chiefs struggled to find a replacement for Tyreek Hill and a new No. 1 WR for Patrick Mahomes?

The easiest way to fix the failing Miami Dolphins and falling Chiefs at the same time?

Trade back Tyreek Hill and end the weekly circus in Miami.

Time for Hill to reteam with Mahomes

The Dolphins should’ve traded the unpredictable Hill before the 2025 NFL Draft.

Five months later, Miami is being outscored 33-8 by one of the league’s worst teams in a humiliating season-opener, and Hill’s trade value has only declined.

He caught four passes for a team-high 40 yards on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

But Hill plays on an offense that totaled just 12 first downs and 211 yards, while quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was a paltry 14-of-23 for 114 yards, two interceptions, three sacks and a 51.7 rating.

Daniel Jones, who was kicked out of New York, was easily the best QB on the field as the Colts led 20-0 at halftime and 30-0 in the fourth quarter.

The 31-year-old Hill is being paid $27 million to be the No. 1 wide receiver on a team that he quit on at the end of last season, and had to apologize to during Super Bowl week.

None of that makes sense for Hill or the Dolphins, especially after the worst Week 1 showing of any team in the league.

“When you lose the turnover game (minus-3), you turn the ball over on downs, you run into the kicker, you have 12 guys in the huddle, and you only have 20 minutes with the ball in your possession, that’s a formula for failure and nothing else,” McDaniel said.

“We have one direction to go from here —and it’s the opposite direction of what this effort produced.”

It's only going south for Dolphins

Compare that to 2022, when McDaniel first learned that the Dolphins had a shot to pry Hill away from the Chiefs’ dynasty.

“Tell 'em they can have everything!” McDaniel said then, in a sign that he didn’t have a full grasp on everything required to win at the highest level of the NFL

Miami should be scoring 70 points a game – it happened in Week 3 of the 2023 season – and turning the Tagovailoa-Hill combination into the most-dangerous attack in the league.

Instead, Tagovailoa is going backward, Hill is in decline, and McDaniel has allowed the Dolphins to become the most chaotic team in the NFL.

It can all be addressed with a single trade.

Mahomes and Kelce need receiving help

Kansas City’s disappointing 27-21 opening loss to the Chargers was another reminder that the Chiefs are also going backward.

Justin Herbert was better than Mahomes, while Travis Kelce injured the Chiefs' best receiver and was limited to two catches during a game when Mahomes was Kansas City’s leading rusher.

“This will be a big lesson for us,” Mahomes said.

“They definitely came out with more energy than we did. We got to get better from the start.”

Hill back in a Chiefs uniform would shake up the league.

Kansas City hasn’t given Mahomes a true top receiver since the fastest player in the NFL was shipped to Miami.

Hill has issues, but they’re nothing that Andy Reid hasn’t seen before.

The Dolphins are getting closer and closer to being forced to fire McDaniel and hit the rebuild button.
