Yahoo! A woman at the helm!

By guest blogger, Michelle Sieg

Wausau, Wisconsin native Marissa Mayer was recently named to the number one spot on Fortune's 40 under 40 list. If you have never heard of Marissa, she might make a great topic for your next school paper because she is making history before our very eyes.

Marissa is only 38 years old and has been the CEO of Yahoo! for more than a year now. Not only that, but she went to Yahoo! from that “other” online presence, Google, where she spent the first several years of her technology career.

Dear girls of IOU Sports, if you ever think you “can’t,” please remember there’s a Wisconsin gal out there who is saying you “can.” In the comments below, tell us what you find most inspiring about Marissa.

Both an athlete and a leader at heart, Michelle volunteers as a marketing consultant to the IOU Sports Board of Directors. She’s also been on the board of the Women’s Fund of Greater Milwaukee and has been a consultant to the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center. When she’s not working as a creative director, she can often be found teaching a Spinning class or meeting friends for coffee.
