The Women’s American Basketball Association’s New Team,
The Milwaukee Aces, Officially Launches Its Logo and Brand

Milwaukee, WI – December 19, 2014 – The Milwaukee Aces women’s professional basketball team in the newly formed Women’s American Basketball Association (WABA) held its official soft launch on Wednesday, December 17, at Hotel Metro in Downtown Milwaukee to an audience of business leaders, entrepreneurs and collegiate academic leaders.

The breakfast launch started with an introduction of Aces team owner and operator Bernell Hooker, principal at the Midwest Women’s Sports Group, a catalyst for innovative and creative women sports and entertainment. The name ACES is a combination of Hooker’s parents’ names, A.C. and Edna Hooker. “The Milwaukee Aces is a great opportunity for more women in basketball to have a chance to compete at the highest level,” said Hooker. “I am excited to be the flame to ignite something that will positively impact the game of basketball for females and fans in the state of Wisconsin.”

Hooker brings her perspective as an athlete and expertise as a coach to affect social change in female and women’s sports. In 2002, Hooker founded IOU Sports, a nonprofit organization established to empower girls to achieve their best through education and sports.

The Aces are the only professional women’s basketball team in Wisconsin since the Milwaukee Does premiered in 1978. The launch included the unveiling of the team’s logo and social media platforms.
