Nutritional Give and Take

My Dear Young Athletes, like in all relationships it is all about giving and receiving. If you want to your body to perform at its peak then you need to fuel it with the purest fuel possible. Fruit provides the simplest form of complex sugars. It provides a quick refueling to the body to prevent you from hitting the wall; a term used by athletes to describe dehydration and fatigue. Bananas are great because they provide potassium, which is a great electrolyte to help the body hydrated. Bananas also give a good amount of sugar that will help keep you going. Remember to ensure that your intake is taken in moderation to prevent cramping and upset stomachs. It is best to have a banana 30 minutes before your work out, and one thinly sliced and mixed with diced orange for right after practice and work out.
